This is to update my 94cde burning oil following restoration after it suffered oil starvation because I installed the oil pump cover snap ring the wrong way which resulted in a seized balance shafts. The seized shaft took out the balance shaft chain and scoured a hole on the timing cover oil suction passage.

A string of events happened which delayed a simple compression test I intended until tonight. For a day, I almost had all three of my 9k's inoperable.

Yesterday my 94cs turbo had the belt shredded. My son had it towed home. I had him installed a spare I kept. That was easy.

But I wanted to clear the spot in the garage taken by the oil burning 94cde. I ran out of fossil oil (I didn't want to start feeding it Mobil 1 yet until I fix all the problems) so I went to Pepboys to get fossil oil. When I came out, I found I couldn't start the 95cse turbo. So it was left there overnight. It turned out the DI was bad. So in addition these incidents, I had two DI's suffered different kind of deaths on the 95cse in the course of a little more than a month. The first DI from my wrecked 94cs died a slow death missing ad moderate speed. This one was sudden, from when I shut off the engine at the Pepboys parking lot.

So today my son Tim had to play double-O-seven, driving the 94 cde to school in a cloak of smoke surrounding the 94cde. Because that was the only car left driveable abd his commute is the shortest. By the time he got home, the 94 cde has consumed a quart of oil through the exhaust.

Anyway, I digressed..

Lacking a proper extension for the pressure gage, I used a rubber hose with a threaded fitting connected to the gage at the end. It doesn't provide a good seal on the plug hole. I know it because in dry test there is a sound (like someone giving gas) coming out of the hole and during wet test oil mist comes out. The numbers I got were the same dry or wet 150/150/150/140. I think if I had a better seal at the spark plug hole they would have been higher.

And I can see oil stain between the flared part of the exhaust pipe and the turbocharger exhaust end.

Is the verdict pointing to a bad turbocharger oil seal? I am already getting ahead of myself. I ordered a used Garrett T25 today. It should be delivered Friday.
