Mark - think i can help you. fixed similar problem on my 95 9000 CSE last nite. i found postings on saabnet for this particular problem to be near useless. don't know why. give me some feedback after you've tried my suggestion. after verifying this is not a fuse problem (and most likely it is not since it's an intermittent problem) - problem can be one of two items - the central locking controller (most likely) or the switch which controls the controller. Sitting in your car with the doors closed, operate the the door lock/unlock rocker switch on the center console. Listen for a low volume double click coming form the inside the driver's door (it's actually hard to tell its coming from inside the door; you'll get two clicks within one second each time you press the rocker switch; i think you want to be pressing the rear of the switch down, but if that doesn't produce the sound i described, press the rocker switch down at the front of the switch. Repeat several times. If no sound, open driver's door, close, and wait about 30 seconds and repeat. If still not audible sound, the switch probably needs to be replaced. Door panel will need to be removed. If you do get the clicking sound, the switch is functioning and your problem is in the central locking controller. The controller unit is under the dash above the driver's knee. It is black and a little longer than a pack of cigarettes. You first need to remove the black panel that is mounted above you lap (if this has never been removed before, you will need to remove some plastic fasteners that are like plastic pop rivets. i'll leave removal up to your creativity. Once the panel is removed, you will see a white inverted tray mounted above where your knee would be. The controller is mounted out of view behind this tray. You can see the U shaped metal clip that fastens a tab on the controller to the tray. The clip easily removes by hand, and then the controller hangs down and the connector can be removed and the unit replaced. Don't waste you time trying to fix the controller. Its a single printed circuit board and some component has probably failed. Good Luck. Email me if you have any questions.
