I had exactly the same problem on my '97 CSE auto following a switch to synthetic oil. Drips were forming on the bottom of the cover plate to the auto trans and falling on the exhaust.

Ari suggested I look closely at the valve cover gasket, which I replaced though I couldn't see how any oil could get so far down when leaking from the top of the engine. I also changed back to dino oil with a dose of Auto RX. Within a few weeks, no more oil leak. One or the other was the solution, and I'm inclined to think it was the valve cover gasket, unlikely as it may seem.

Worth a try, even if you can't see a direct path the oil could flow down from the valve cover. Worked for me, anyway.
