first check that you've disconnected the SRS clockspring contacts -- there should be two connectors behind the wheel, one for the horn and one for the airbag itself. You've already disconnected the airbag connector when you removed the airbag, so it's the horn contact you're looking for. It should be a small white plastic clip-together connector, sometimes lashed to the metal frame inside the wheel cavity.
Once you're sure you've disconnected everything so that their tail ends can be threaded through the wheel as you pull it off, reinstall the steering wheel retaining nut a few threads. Then yank hard on the wheel until it pops off. The nut will stop it, to prevent you breaking your nose when the wheel flies off. Unscrew it and pull the wheel gently off the spindle, carefully guiding the clockspring wires through the wheel.
Be sure you've marked your wheel for the straight ahead position so reinstallation goes smoothly.
