I bought a used turbocharger for my 94cde which was leaking oil because of a bad oil seal due to running the engine just long enough with oil starvation. The turbocharger finally came today. But I have already put together one garrett T25 from the rotating parts of one from a 900 I bought last year which I forgot plus the air inlet and gas exhaust housings from the bad one. It fixed the problem of the oil leak. The 94cde is running fine now without loud valve tapping before oil starvation except the oil light still comes on below 1,200 rpm. I have ordered an oil pressure sender but that's a different issue.
Well the turbocharger which came in the mail today is a TD-04 (a mistake, BTW) from a 96 aero. There is no play at the shaft but a slight resistance spinning the impeller. It also came with all plumbing. Both coolant lines and the oil line are without any rust. Looking at the turbocharger and lines, it appears to be a direct match with the non-aero 9k's. Could someone confirm this?
I am not looking to put it in one of my 9k turbo's right away. Doing it in car is really a PITA. But if it is exchangeable with the stock garrett t-25, I'll do it when another turbocharge on my other 9k's goes kaput.
