thanks, checked, had a new valve cover gasket last may with headgasket, yesterday it was a little bit wet around a couple bolts, but no quantity of oil to see, unless it's burning?

that's a good idea, will double check.

just took car out for drive, after letting sit for awhile tonite...

car stayed cool idling in driveway, fan would occasionally come on (low) and cool it right down. driving around, slightly warmer at stop-lights, fan would come on (low), cool it right down, as soon i move, comes down to 9 pm or lower.

might be a bit warmer than it used to be, at lights, but as discussed, could just be difference from AC...

maybe my fan was intermittently malfunctioning, due to failing bearings, or whatever, and wasn't turning well at low speeds, causing high speed to kick in, where there was enough current to turn the fan?

and that's why car was running hot?

time will tell...

what's odd is this, ever since i noticed coolant was low, and idle vibration was increased, and i started thinking about headgasket:

expansion tank cracked
serp belt tore apart
fan motor started making noise
fan motor wires broke off
fan motor seizes/resistor fails
symptoms of heater core leak are increasing (moisture upon start-up)
mystery quart of oil loss

so many things that either could lead to a headgasket failure, or point to one, i feel like this is the test, to see if i really have what it takes to own a 9000...

the easy days of buying a saab for $1000 or $2000 and driving trouble free for a year or more, seem to be in the past now.

reality is upon me.

friday i saw an ad for 0% hyundai financing, it was good they don't make a nice hatchback, i was tempted.
