Panel Removal Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Mon, 26 Dec 2005 08:14:23 In Reply to: Electrical System, Eleximp, Sun, 25 Dec 2005 12:17:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The main electrical distribution is above the passenger footwell; there you will find the fuse panel as well as the main relay board which is accessed by lowering the fuse panel. Look around on your fuse panel, there may be some extra/auxilliary circuits available, or tap into a switched/fused circuit such as the radio.
The fiberboard/fabric panels above the footwells are held in place with several large plastic pop-rivets and one torx screw in the upper corner. To remove the rivets, insert a finishing nail into the hole, hold it with a pliers, and press up. This will press out the "keeper" that is expanding the plastic fingers which hold the rivet in place, the rivet will then be released. If the fingers are intact, find the keeper and you can reuse the rivet. If you can't find the keeper, use a piece of toothpick. New pop-rivets are available for some exorbitant amount, something like $3 each at my local dealer.
