On the highway yesterday I was passing someone when my speedo died. Also the odometer, cruise & shift indicator. The car then started to stall on decelleration. I have read a few posts out there that indicate an easy fix of the speed sensor & the gear associated with it. That made me feel better. Then I saw the disturbing posts that indicate this fix may involve dropping the transmission. I have had some weird symptoms lately that may point to the speed sensor gear starting to go (inconsistent boost, intermitent hestitation & CEL indicating poor mix.)The car does not seem to be stuck in base boost but, I did not push it very hard. The tranny seems okay although I did have one moment when 2nd gear felt a little sticky but this did not repeat itself over the rest of the 100 miles I drove.
Can someone explain why this situation may require the transmission to be taken out? Or, am I just panicking for no reason.
Thanks
Robbo
