Mounting the Hella FF200 driving lights on my 9000 was relatively simple.
1. Remove the torx screws holding the grill in place.
2. With the grill removed look at the back side of the metal bumper (which is underneath the plastic bumper cover). You will see a number of torx bolts which go into the back side of the metal bumper. You can fasten an L shaped bracket (to attach the driving lights to) to the bumper there (I used Stanley brackets from the local Home Depot).
3. The first problem that you will encounter is that the plastic bumper cover overlaps the rear side of the metal bumper by about 3/4 of an inch or so. I used a Dremel tool to cut out a notch in the rear of the plastic bumper cover in order that the L shaped bracket could be mounted in a verticle position.
4. Once you cut out the notch in the bumper cover attaching the lights to the brackets is a pretty simple affair.
5. To run the control switch into the passenger compartment, remove the fabric panel by the steering column under the dashboard. When you remove this panel, look at the firewall area near the steering column (from inside the car) and you will see a grey colored circular rubber plug (about 3 inches or so in diameter). Temporarily remove this plug and then insert something about 18 inches long (I used a flexible pick-up tool) into the opening covered by this plug. Then go under the hood and see if you can see the item that you inserted into the opening. Take some tape and tape the control switch from the driving lights electrical harness to the tool and then, using the inserted tool, pull the control switch and wire into the passenger compartment. Hella's FF200 control switch has an adhesive backing so you can mount it wherever is convenient.
6. The wiring harness for the Hella FF200 is relatively simple to hook up, with the most challenging thing being to tap a wire onto the high beam control wire going into one of the headlights. This enables you to automatically have the driving lights go on when you put your high beams on. The control switch enables you to use the high beams without the driving lights if you wish.
The staffer at Susquehanna Motor Sports (where I bought the lights) told me that the ranking of the moderate sized FF series lights for the best beam pattern is the FF200, FF50, FF100, FF75 and FF300. They also sell an FF1000 driving light (which is being discontinued), and at about 7 inches in diameter, this light is huge, and so is its light output; I have a set of the FF1000 on one of our 9000s and the amount of light that they put out is amazing.
Hope that the above description makes it relatively easy to install a set of driving lights on your 9000.
