There are those who prefer stock when it comes to replacing parts. I am one of those. Remove one of the front wheels to look. The control arm is triangular in shape the two vertices of which are connected to the car frame through two control arm bushings. The front is aluminum. The back is rubber incased in an aluminum cylinder with two rectangular wings each of which has a hole to be bolted to the car body. The third vertex of the control arm is directly under the front strut.
You can easily inspect the bushings for cracks with the front wheel removed or even without removing it. Very often the front aluminum bushing disintegrates past 100k miles and is frequently ignored if the owner doesn't pay attention.
