If you are cheap like me, anything goes. I have replaced the entire clutch set on my 94cs turbo, clutch disc, pressure plate, TO bearing but kept the old slave. I have also opened everything up on my 95cse turbo, found everything pretty new and put it back together without replacing a thing. On my 94cde turbo, I replaced only the clutch disc and the slave. I had to because the old slave didn't work and the disc is from a 5 speed exposed to the elements for some time. I also found (afterwards) the disc I put in was of the wrong size (9 in OD rather then 9.5 in for a standard turbo). Never have I resurfaced the flywheel on any of the four 9k's I own/owned.
BUT I am not into performance. I just want them functional.
