I just did this in my car as well (trying to spruce things up a bit in my "new to me" 9000).

It sounds scary, but just be gentle and gently pull the switch out. Rock it slowly from side to side and it should come right out.

Next, disconnect the wiring harness. Again, just go real slowly and rock it off. The whole thing comes off at once.

The switch will look like a small green plastic cylinder. I cleaned mine off a bit since it was sort of dusty. As the previous poster said, look at the back of it and you will see (right in the middle) two tabs which can be squeezed together. Squeeze these and slowly pull...a long piece will come out with the bulb on the other end.

I was able to get a replacement bulb at my local Pep Boys..the original bulb had 1.2v 7w printed on it (although the replacement said 1.2v and 12w.) It's very tiny...just a little bit bigger than a grain of rice!

Pay careful attention to how you pulled the bulb out...the bulb holder piece will only go back in one way so the contacts will press on the holder once its back in place.

Then just put reconnect the wiring harness...carefully stuff any excess wiring behind the hole, and press the switch back in place...I believe mine made a nice click or snapping noise to let me know it way back in place and seated properly.

You should be good to go now with a nicly lit headlight switch!
