The best description is on Quasi's site. The work is fairly straight forward, so not terribly hard to do if you have basic tools. However it does involve jacking the right front up and supporting with jackstand, removing rf wheel, wheel liner, and inspecting all of the components. Give yourself 2-4hrs for the first time. Don't know how your temps or workspace are, but it is pretty cold and sloppy here right now for working on the back.
My bet is that the tensioner shock is weak. This looks like a mini shock absorber and keeps the pressure on the belt. When components kick in, esp the AC, it moves a bit to compensate for added pressure. When mine went, the tensioner bounced a lot with each added pressure, and the belt ended up bouncing right off of the pulley.
Also the bearings on the pulleys can go allowing the belt to flop off. Most likely are the idler and tensioner pulley. These are replacement items for me every 65k mi, so if it were me, I'd replace them and the belt and inspect other pulleys and tensioner.
Be careful trying to drive this, the water pump is driven by this belt and you can cook the engine in pretty short order.
Searches can be done in the box at the top of the heading. Ari has some good points on checking the main pulley function.
