So, got this 97 cse back in november. Almost immediately replaced both low beam bulbs with sylvania silverstars. They have been fine. I did notice that one of the "park" lights (passenger side) was out. I replaced what I thought were the park lights: the outside bulbs in the orange lenses. That didn't fix the problem but it was not a big deal. Also noticed that the passenger low beam looked a little off.
So recently I looked closer at the pass low beam and noticed that I had missed a clip in rotating the bubl in, so I back it out. At the same time I replaced the "turn signal" bulbs in the orange lenses. One bulb, the driver side was working and I noticed it had two filaments, the pass had only one, so I replaced it and now turn signals and "park" lights work all the time. THe next day the pass low beam went out.
last night I replaced the pass low beam with a new silverstar. Worked fine on drive home. This morning the driver low beam blows on startup.
I'm thinking something is causing voltage spikes, because it seems like the fuse would protect against amp overload? I have another headlight relay, but since the lows worked for so long before I replaced the turn/park bulbs I think that must be the problem. Any ideas? So far all other lights are working fine. I feel stupid for burning up another $20 so fast... next time will replace with cheap ones, till I figure this out.
