Guarantee To Pass (Emissions)

No it is not about my 9k's.
My '93 Volvo 940 wagon failed NJ emissions in October. Every item passed except NOx. The reading was 1,226 versus 973 allowed.
Incidentally I sometimes wish all my three 9k's are like the 940 wagon. Over the years I paid very little attention to it and it never complained. Just kept moving when we tell it to. My three 9k's are demanding and getting much more attention on the other hand. But of course the 940 wagon is quite anemic. You couldn't tell it to hurry up no matter what you try.
Anyway I was in Pepboys and saw this product on the shelf called GTP, or "Guarantee To Pass". It says if you use the product, it guarantees that you'll pass emissions if it fails the State inspection (maybe only the NOx part I am not sure). For less than 10 bucks I thought what do I have to lose? Even if it didn't work I wasn't going to try to get my money back for a mere $9 something.
So I asked my yougner son Russell who is a senior in high school using the wagon everyday to pour a bottle in a filled tank. After the tank is empty I asked him to fill up with premium gas and take it to inspections.
Guess what? The new NOx reading lowered to 973, right at the limit.
I think I'll do it on my 9k's next time it fails emissions.
