I don't know that I'd feel comfortable "splicing" into my radio's wiring, although I did do that on an Explorer I previously owned, but it was way too much effort to unplug wires and reconnect the sound portion of the changer cables to use the changer. Plus I use the CD changer an awful lot and I have three different components utilizing the tape deck (I actually bought three tape adapters for easy swapping :)
I do think under the right conditions the tape adapter can sound great. Once you really clean up the head its not gonna get that dirty again (unless you're using real tapes). I have the treble set all the way up with no noise cancelling turned on and the only way I can start to hear hiss is if I have nothing playing and turn the volume ALL the way up (and at that point you'd be blowing speakers!).
