I installed new ball joints and stock rear control arm bushings on my '96 Aero at 80K miles. It was huge improvement over loose and wandering steering I had before.
Next came SAS bars. They noticeably reduced bodyroll and eliminated understeer. The car feels great and secure at high-speed turns, but I think the sway bars add to springs rates, and make my Aero feel undershocked.
The handling would probably benefit from new Konis, when I find time and money :)
The biggest surprise to me was when I replaced almost new rubber rear control arm bushings with poly ones.
What a difference in steering feel! I highly recommend that mod.
My dream setup would include a quicker ratio steering rack, but I have no idea where to source it.
You say you work for scrap yard. May be you could walk around with measuring tape and find as a better rack :)
