I'm planning on changing the auto trans fluid soon, as I have no record of when the previous owner did it.

After searching and reading many posts, I'm going to use the "3-change" method to get all that old fluid out of there. (Change once, drive for a while, then repeat 2x more.)

Do I need to change the filter each time as well ($21 at EEuro)? I've read about people washing it...what do I wash it with?

Also I've read about a metal washer that is included with the Eeuro kit (see link picture) - any consensus on what this washer is for? Others have said they can't figure out where it goes/what its for.

I'm going to open the drain plug first (Allen or Torx-45 I think???), then open the pan to reduce splashing, etc. Sound like a good plan?

As for fluid and type...to avoid Syn vs. Non-Syn debate - lets just say I'm going with what my 1998 manual recommends (Dexron III)!!!

Thanks for your help - its fun "reconditioning" my new 9000 one piece at a time!
