Pretty sure the 1997 Anniversary does NOT have the 225 bhp engine, either side of the Atlantic.
On the Aero/CSE thing, this seems to happen quite frequently - I bought a 1993 CSE after its owners had advertised it in Autotrader as an Aero. When I pointed out the error, they produced the registration document, and Saab Contract Hire themselves had registered the thing as an Aero. It had bee built with lots of non-standard bits like Aero wheels, suspension and exhaust, but the VIN said CSE (as did the badge on the back).
On the dreaded Eb*y I recently saw another '93 automatic where the seller said something along the lines of 'I know this is a CSE but the paperwork insists it's an Aero', which was honest enough - she could presumably have found an Aero badge, stuck it on and asked for more money.
I think these mistakes start at first registration. In the case of my '93 the Aero had only just started so goodness knows what Saab reckoned they were up to.
