I just replaced the throttle cable in my 96' 9000 CS Automatic. I ran into a problem at the throttle body. It seemed as though the cable was short. When I attempted to place the cable around the plastic piece that holds the end of the cable(Im referring to the black piece that attaches to the throttle mechanism with the springs) the little arm that touches the very small set screw was about 1/4" away from where it should of been resting. Thus when the car was started, she was running way above idle speed. More like 2000+ RPM.

The cable at the end under the drivers side foot area looks fine. The arm on the gas pedal that rests against the back wall is agaisnt the wall all the way, which leads me to believe that the cable is in the right place.

So why is it short up near the throttle body?

I plan to pull the cable out again tomorrow to match it up to the old one.

Are there any other settings to adjust near the throttle body?

Also, the plastic piece at the throttle body broke. I have a new one coming in tomorrow that I need to replace. Any tips on replacing this? Im afraid of all the springs and such.
