97 AERO 3" JT Exhaust - K&N filter - I've been ignoring this problem long enough mostly due to the fact that I had to shell out $1,800 when internal gear in the tranny that drives the speed sensor went. That did include a new clutch & all that so not too bad. Anyway back to the current issue - in Oct 05 I had the JT 3" Turbo back exhaust with Magna Flow Cat installed by my local indy. About 2 weeks after that the CEL came on. Before I got it back to the shop I had the red hot turbo & glowing cat issue I had previously posted. I got it to the shop & they installed a new O2 sensor & sent me on my way. I did question whether or, not the cat would be shot but they seemed to think not. 2 weeks later the same thing. I have tried resetting the ECU and doing the adaptative runs & still about 2 weeks later the CEL comes back on. Recently on a highway trip the CEL came back on and then when the gas tank got to about 1/2 full I started experiencing a stuttering on high speed acceleration especially if I really stomp on it. If I ease into it everything seems okay. The plugs are black around the base but the tips are not too bad. Exhaust tip is pretty black as well but no I see no smoke. I filled the tank up & the problem has seemed to cease. Still have the CEL but no stuttering. Also gas mileage around town has gone below 20 MPG and it feels less powerfull even though the boost appear to be normal. It feels like it is holding back at times. The car idels well but does stammer a bit when the ACC kicks in. Also have a slight whining noise coming from serp belt near AC compressor. Not sure if that could cause any problems but will check into that. I have an appointment tomorrow at the indy shop to get the codes checked. I am thinking that the FPR or, a failing DI might be the problem but I was not sure if I can rule out a clogged cat at this point either. Any input into a cure for my Aero would be appreciated.
