My 1993 9000 CS automatic with 155K miles on it started to run extremely rough/misfire on the highway tonight as I was coming home from a trip. The car started off the trip running fine, but as I got on the highway, I started going up a hill, and all of a sudden, the car felt like it lost a lot of power, and the whole car was shuddering/vibrating.

I was able to shift the car from 'D' to '3'rd, and was able to get the car up the hill, but it was definetly low on power. The car ran this way all the rest of the way home, but at one point, when I stopped at a toll booth, It seemed to be running normal. But that quickly stopped. The rest of the way (about 100 miles), the car was running very poorly and seemed to be misfiring.

From what I've read by searching this forum, it seems like the DI is dying, as this car has the orginal one I believe. As a side note, the car has seemed to be low on power when I start the car in the mornings before the engine gets up to full operating temp. Does this seem to be the symptoms of a bad or dying DI?

I also pulled the plugs to take look at them. I was expecting that if the DI was dying and not providing a spark to one of the sparkplugs, that the plug would be wet with gas, but none of them were. Plugs from cylinder one and two looked to have normal wear on them. Sparkplug from cylinder three had some baked on crud on the electrode and arm, and cylinder four sparkplug looked to have a whitish film over the electroide and arm. From the back of most Haynes Manuals, they say this is from an engine running hot, which I would figure would be from the engine working harder to do the same amount of work to get up hills etc. I replaced the plugs about 15K miles ago.

Thanks for all the help.
