Since we are sharing... last Friday went to leave the office and Aero ('93, 141K) wouldn't start. Remembered when the fuel pump had failed on the '87 and figured it might be the same thing... jumped the fuel pump fuse to the hazard lights (big paperclips work great for this) and banged on the trunk floor until the pump started. Fortunately, the pump sacrificed all its remaining life for the 10 mile drive home. I tried to start it the next day and after much banging, the pump would turn and groan but not start. Replaced it last weekend.
So, if you get stuck, try the fuel pump fix!
