If you have a manual, the easiest I've found with no drilling is around the rod which extends from the shifter through to the engine bay.
There is a rubber grommet around the rod, you can pass wires between the grommet and the firewall, so they don't interfere with the shifter rod.
To access this area, just remove the trim piece under the steering column and the carpet piece below the center console on the driver's side.
I have a TCS switch cable, a boost gauge hose, and a subwoofer power cable passed through here on my car. good luck. -AMG
