sounds like you're doing really well for a 15 year old 9000.
you should be able to buy another one for 1/2 that easily...
can you buy yours back for $150 salvage value and save all of your recent parts?
when my 90 9000 S got totaled for water damage (minor) from heavy rains last fall, I wound up with a check for about $650 (after deductible, salvage value, and corrections they made for rust on lower doors and around rear wheel well. it was kind of a scam, in that they took the appraiser's estimate to fix the rust ($1400) and subtracted it from the value of the car. the only good thing was that the appraiser completely overestimated the value of the water damage which was negligible and nothing a good hot day in the sun and a little cleaning couldn't fix. the trouble was, the more i pushed, the more he started to threaten to take the car into a shop and be put on a lift for further appraisal, at which point, I was afraid we'd get into the details, such that my slave cylinder was bad and the car wasn't driveable, and who knows what else might be found (turned out i had rotting break lines, so I finally made decision NOT to repair the car last weekend) at 210K miles.
I bought that car in tip top shape at 190K miles four years ago for $1050 with thousands in recent repair slips. i never had a problem in 20K miles that was major (exhaust, brakes, and ball joint) until slave failed after the car sat and was only driven a few weekends a year for a couple years straight.
If you want to replace your car, I'm confident a patient search could reveal a deal from a caring Saab owner with plenty of receipts for around $1000. Check southern CT if you live near the New England.
Good luck,
Aaron
