Running Rich Posted by Gene N [Email] (#1094) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gene N) on Wed, 8 Mar 2006 20:13:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The car is a 1991 turbo 5 speed and is running rich with a check engine light. Pulled the plugs (5,000 miles on them), and all 4 plugs have with a uniform coating of carbon which us consistent with a rich condition. Checked the fuel pressure regulator, and the diaphram is intact (no leakage). I swapped the AMM with a known good one, with no change in the way the car opperates.
With the car warmed up, the O2 sensor reads around 200 mv, with no cycling occuring. If I pull off the vacuum line from the FPR and plug it, the reading goes down to 100 mv, which seems right because the FPR would add more fuel with no vacuum.
My question is: Is this a bad O2 sensor that is causing the car to run rich, or is the sensor just reporting on the condition?
Thanks.
