"cracked" DI cassette 'secret' fix... Posted by vtsnaab [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Help! I'm stuck in Walmart..., dan ![]() |
Bruce, that sounds just akin to being stuck in h*ll to me.
In case you find your DI cassette is cracked, here is a
fix that I have done and highly recommend:
Just replace the 'lower unit'.
The electronics are encased in the top unit which does
also fail (some even melt in hot weather), but if the
lower section is cracked, or the rubber boots are dried
out, it can make your engine buck and fart terribly.
Part# 91-67-016 (LWRSEC DI-IGNSY)
Price, less shipping: $65 at Hyannis Saab, but
see my other post about Armen's - his price is
better.
If you get one, you need to be very clean and
careful about moisture admission - even after
I heated mine a bit, and sealed it up very
carefully, it took a short while to 'burn off'
the atmospheric moisture I admitted into it -
but after that it was 100% perfect.
The voltages inside there are just too high
to have any moisture at all, or any bad
insulators - which is mostly why I replaced
that lower unit, and it's a good deal too !
Best Wishes,
mark
