My 94cde has a new lease on life. Picked up an engine from a '95cse (121k miles) in Corona, NY right next to Shea Stadium Saturday. Today I worked 16 hours to get the 94cde running. Finished 20 minutes ago. The engine is okay for its age. Not super clean. As usual I opened the sump pan, timing cover and valve cover to check everything and sealed it up again. I used the rear plate and the timing cover of the 94cde because each has a relatively new seal. The 94cde only logged about 5,000 miles after the 5 speed conversion.
I also had to switch the wiring harness because it was changed from MY 94 to 95. The 95 has the cruise control computer connected to the trottle body. The trottle cable connection is also different. I used the 94 throttle body.
While disconnecting the axle I found the driver side CV joint has oozed some grease out for some time, makiing the control asm a mess. I used a spare drive shaft to replace it.
The engine oil pressure light is gone forever with the old block.
The picture shows the block upside down on the stand with Permatex orange before being sealed.
