'87 9KT temp gauge acting up

Hello,
on my '87 9KT I just changed out the heat actived cooling fan
control, it's fixed, but the temp gauge is now dropping out when
there's movement while driving, like when turning corners.
It seems like it could be a diry gauge or a bad ground/sending unit.
How is the temp gauge wired? Where is it connected to a source of heat?
Thanks,
MichaelO
