a nice running engine with bad mounts can be smooth...

i had similar issues with my 93 9000 after i bought it almost two years ago...

first issue that was causing vibration was a weak/failing DI.

replaced that and things smoothed out...

then vibration came back and got worse...

fixed cracked mount (as you describe) with black silicone (high temp) and some pieces of rubber, smoothed out.

then vibration got worse again.

head gasket failed.

head gasket was fixed and vibration disappeared.

car was perfect for 6 months...

then mystery noise developed in engine/tranny?

finally replaced with new transmission thinking it was tranny (worked fine, basically, with minor slipping at start off, or delayed shifts) AND new tranny mount.

now car is basically smooth, but noise remains.

when cold, there is some vibration, but the insides of the car doesn't rattle.

moral...

could be mounts, or could be something that exposes weakness in mounts.

you could check tranny mount, as per earlier reply... cheap and relatively easy to replace.

but could be something bad like head gasket starting to leak.

mysteries...
