So the 9K is just almost on the road. I drove it 40 miles last weekend even, hard tires and cracked windshield and the ocasional lack of stable idle, but hey, it drove pretty decent.
Rear brakes were makeing that "hi, we need pads" sound.
Fine, set of cheap pads for a couple weeks till I'm cought up and order all the brake stuff new. Pull caliper, have read about the adjuster on the rear, great. Attempt to turn adjuster, not so great. Broke.
Hit up a buddy at a salvage yard for another used one in a vain hope of getting out cheap, same deal. Repeat once again. All broke in that adjuster assembly. Most likely from a monkey with a C-clamp somewhere in the past.
~sigh~
Funny thing is I've seen people praising Saab for this design over the more common little drum brake in the disk for the parking brake. This would not have happened on the more conventional design.
This car is so darn different from all the BMW's and Mercedes and Volvo's and VW's I've dealt with. I think I'm going to just have to leave it on jackstands for the week and order a caliper. I hate it when stupid little crap mucks up the most simple operation.
