I've run Silverstars in my Aero for over a year now. My low beams just recenlty went out (About 15-16 months after installation.)
I drive with my lights on all the time.
I agree that they burn out sooner than other bulbs, but the 6-8 week business seems rediculous. Sorry about that.
I just put high beam bulbs in my low beams (Did the grinding away of the tabs in the bulb plug) but they are not silverstars (I had left-over highs in my trunk.)
I am a fan of the Silverstar light, and I'll probably keep using them, at least for my high beams. I like the higher wattage in the low beams. I'm sure that Silverstar highbeams in there would be great, but don't know how long they'll last.
Let me know if you find alternatives to the Silverstar that you're pleased with.
