The SAAB is nothing special. You can do it.
Remove the cover above the knee on the driver side. Get ready to play body contortionist for 20 minutes. Look for a black switch at the top of the brake pedal. The first pair of switches you'll find are for the cruise control. It's not them. Look for one further in at the top of the brake pedal linkage. Disconnect the switch. The brake light take voltage straight from the battery through the fuse panel. So if the fuse at the panel is good you should get 12 volts.
Next look at the switch itself. When you depres the brake pedal, the leg on the switch should come out to close the circuit turning the brake light on. Let's hope by this time you'll find the brake switch damaged or defective.
If everything so far is up and up we have more serious issues but still no biggie. Let's see what we have first.
