Help! wrecking my door cards! BILL DAVIES any idea?

(Bill, if you read this I took yo're name in vain as I note that you've fitted some walnut door tops before).

I was trying to fit them on Sunday, but noticed that the interior weatherstrip at the top of the door card is not straight along its length, whereas the wooden door caps are.

I managed to remove the trim off one of the cards (using brute force and swearing!) and reseated it straight, but the other one is not budging at all. I managed to tear the top of the door card where the hole for the door unlocking pin sticks through and I'm worried I'll do more damage that the door caps WON'T hide if I continue.

Any advice on how to remove the interior weatherstrip?

I posted on Sunday but I'm worried it'll get missed and my kitchen is full of door bits!
