That is the return spring Posted by Gene N [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: squeeky clutch, mike d, Tue, 4 Apr 2006 08:08:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If the squeaking noise sounds like a screen door opening and closing, then it is some combination of the clutch arm/shaft and return spring making that is makeing the noise. I have two 9000T's and they both have the problem. The 1990 makes the noise all of the time, but not always, while the 1991 only occasionally makes the noise. If you look under the cover in the foot well, you can see the return spring attached to the clutch pedal arm. You can try spraying some lubricant up there to see if it makes a difference.
There is a service bulletin that recommends removing the arm from the pivot and using a silicone-based grease. Also, on high mileage cars, the hole in the clutch arm elongates which contributes to the problem. The solution to that problem is: new clutch arm, building up the material in the hole with a welder and re-drilling the hole, or drilling out the hole and braising in a tube of the correct size.
The other solution that I use is to turn up the radio and put it on the list of things I'll get to some day.
