OregonSlaab,
I spent about 6-8 months looking. At the time I wanted:
~Saab 9000 FPT or Aero with a 5-speed.

~I didn't want Citrin beige, Scarab Green, or Black if I ended up with a CSE.

~I could handle any color if I got an Aero (White/Lemans/Silver were my first choices)

~I wanted one with a service history, and low miles were thought to be better than high miles.

While high miles weren't a deterent (My parents 9000 had about 175K at the time, and I had just sold my '89 BMW 325i with 191K on it, so I wasn't new to the high-mileage car-owning club), high mileage meant that interior and trim items would more likely need attention.

After months of looking, and narrowly missing a Black '93 Aero in SoCal, I found my current car with 44K miles on it. Full history from day one, and a trustworthy owner who disclosed everything about the car before I even saw it. So, I got lucky, but I was patient. (I was in NorCal at the time, near Tahoe, where I grew up)

If I were doing it over again, I'd see what I could afford in the 95-97 range. (Then white would be out...)

I ended up changing a head gasket and clutch (along with slave cylinder...the reason for the change) within the first 6-months.) Turns out that the coolant hadn't been flushed nearly as often (If at all) as it should have... and the age had done its number on the slave, so low miles got me there... but the interior needed no work.

Good luck, and be patient. The Seattle-Portland-S.F.-L.A. regions have them show up from time to time.

~Peter
