I was driving spritedly on the highway today (mostly a game of onramps, exits and 80 mph sprints) and something terrible happened.

there was no great noise, clunk, bump or explosion. no fuss at all. therein lies the trouble.

I shifted down, pulled onto the exit ramp, and suddenly my car was dead.
no brake pedal. no power. nothing but illuminated dash lights.
and so I pulled safely out of the way, coasting to a conveniently close parking lot.
and the car wont start. it will attempt to engage the starter, but the starter doesn't turn over.

somebody shoot me. (some advice). did my turbo take a dump, or am I looking at something more terminal like a locked motor. My turbo was glowing red, but it has done this before under spirited use. Might have been it's time. It has made a light whine for a year or so on cold days.

car is 97 aero. 125K.
how do I diagnose?
