A few of you have helped me out a lot with my 93 9000 CS auto non-turbo that turned out to have a broken exhaust valve, and a few other issues with it. Well, I finally got the cylinder head back on the car, and it all back together, and I am happy to say that the car is running!! I only drove it for about 10 miles or so, as its not registered yet, but the engine is running smooth, and seems to have gain some of the power it was missing before the exhaust valve broke.

I have to say thanks to whomever told me to expect the engine to be really loud for the first 10 minutes, as it took that long to quiet down. I had oil pressure (used the vaseline in the oil pump trick, worked right away), so I knew it was just the lifters needing to get filled up with oil. But it did make me a little nervous that they were so loud for a long time. I think that I might have a bad/sticky lifter, but I had one before as well. I am not going to bother replacing that, too much work and too hard to tell which one it is (plus too much money to replace 8 or 16 of them!)

I do have a question though, since I have everything together, I was going to do a compression test to make sure that the engine has the proper compression, to make sure I did everything correctly. Do I need to wait any time after doing the head gasket to do a compression test? Would I be able to tell pretty quickly if the head gasket was leaking at all or I did something wrong? After driving it around town for about 10 miles or so, the engine oil was very clean (no water in it).

I am going to change the oil in the car now, and after about 500 miles. I am going to drive the car around town for about 50 or so miles before I take it on any long trips, I'm too paranoid that something is going to break on it. What weight oil do people recommend to use in the engine? I've been using 5w-30 in the winter and 10w-30 in the summer, should I switch to 10w-40 for the summer?

Thanks to everyone for the help. I will put some pictures up tonight of the engine before and after cleaning and assembly.
