Or EDU.. The Final Frontier..

So I pulled the rear light bulbs from the pictogram yesterday.
Ha, silly problem solved.

Driving home this afternoon, I notice the average MPG has been on 27.2 for a long while. I punch a button, nothing. Hmmm..

Got home, turn car off, turn car on, everything lights up.
Went in for awhile.
Next trip out the check oil part is on, I check the oil, it's fine, go about my business.
Next ride, no more oil light, but the check engine part is on. It's probibly fine too.
Curse you EDU. Where's my black masking tape..

Let's see.
I need to get another EDU I guess.
Is there any way I can check to see if the check engine function is really suposed to be on?
I notice in the right portion of the cluster amid the warning lamps there, there is a check engine light there as well, but it seems to not be in use.
Wonder if I could re-route the lead to it somehow.
And maybe put in a warning lamp for the low oil switch?
I'm about ready to litteraly black off the EDU completly, I've lived the last almost 30 years without one, and I still use a pen and paper to figure my mileage. It's just the warning indicator portion of it that I'd like to retain. Also the coolant level would need a lamp I guess.

I guess I'll pick up a used cluster and maybe will get lucky with a used EDU. Less trouble than doing away with it really. Stuff like that just bugs the heck out of me...
