One thing to keep in mind... Posted by Gene N [Email] (#1094) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gene N) on Fri, 28 Apr 2006 14:30:53 In Reply to: Won't somebody help L'll ol' me! Is that in the US, at least, the valves are two different sizes so that it is physically impossible (well, certainly difficult, at a minimum) put the chargeing valve on the wrong connection. On the old R-12 Freon systems, the valves were often identical, so you could get it wrong if you were not paying attention. On the two old 9000Ts that I have, the R-12 high side uses a special 3/16 inch Schrader valve which is smaller than the standard 1/4 inch Schrader valve used on the low side. I believe that this was a GM inovation.
So, before you spin around on this subject much more, take the two caps off and look at the two charging ports. I'll bet your charging hose will only fit correctly on one of the ports, solving your dilemma.
