I never really had the chance to see what my 9000 can do on the highway since purchasing a few months ago. This weekend I decided to try 54-55 MPH on the highway for a bit to see what it's capable of.
I filled up my tank to the brim with regular grade gas, then drove 62.8 miles on a nice highway surface (at a speed of about 54-55 MPH), and filled up again to the brim with 1.88 gallons of regular again. 40 PSI in my Kumho tires. Currently on unknown viscosity dino oil (changing to 5W-30 Mobil 1 at next oil change.)
This works out to 33.4 MPG. While the results might not repeat themselves again (especially at higher speeds, hills, etc.) it was encouraging.
Around town I rarely get over 19 MPG. I was beginning to think something was wrong with my engine (not tuned-up, brakes dragging, bad 02 sensor, etc.)
So, for me, the moral of the story is there is a large variation between city MPG and highway MPG for my vehicle.
