9000 Exhaust differences?

What's the difference between the 93-95 and 96-98 exhaust systems for a 9000 other than cat placement and the additional O2 sensor?
Would a downpipe or other parts from an earlier 9000 fit onto a later 9000 or vice versa? I think you can mount the cat in either location (downpipe or farther back).
Anybody know for sure?
Thanks,
-John
