Hi,
haven't been around recently. I guess that means
that I had a good winter. The Groodrich All Seasons
performed very well throughout a long varied Illinois
winter.

PROBLEM LOCKS INSIDE AND OUT

OUT
Well about LOCKS. I broke my inside pull - the doors
were getting so stiff. When I replaced it, I cleaned
and lubed inside and out. Used a degreaser on the
exterior mechanisms and then worked a good pile of
silicone grease in them - they stuck when it
was really cold and I had to slam the door repeatedly
to get the catch to engage. That worked.

INSIDE
Then the inside. Most of what you can see is minimal friction
stuff - plastic bushings, etc. But behind the sheet metal
towards the door you'll find one swivel assembly (hooks to the
end of the rod from the door pull), and further on,
on the door edge above the exterior latch, you'll find
another assembly. On my car these assemblies felt as if they
were made of aluminum and felt corroded - they moved very stiffly.
It did not feel as if there was ever srease on these. I sprayed them
with silicone lube - it helped a little. I then put on the
grease - worked it in as I manipulated the latch. The mechanism
mounted on the pilar above the latch needed the most attention.

My locks now work great - smooth and easy.

STEREO
Also upgraded my stereo last week.
Think I'll put up "An Idiot's Guide
To Replacing the Clarion & Equilizer".
I'm an electrical idiot, and sort of know what
others novices need to know to do it.
What do you think of that idea?

EXHAUST
Also found out i need new exhaust -
front & back. Got an estimate of $840.
Parts are $200 from eeuroparts. Looks like
a straighforward bit of work. Any comments on
that?

Best wishes, buckmath
