So I've noticed that my car has taken up smoking. She's only 12 years old, thats kind of an early age to start ;). The first time I noticed it was a couple of times when starting it I saw a small puff of blueish smoke come out the tailpipe for maybe half a second, usually only after the car had been sitting for an hour or two, I've never seen it happen when the car has sat overnight or after an 8 hour shift at work. I have remote start, so I'm often in view of the outside of the vehicle when she starts. I'm pretty sure its a turbo issue (was just replaced last fall with a used unit... ugh).

BTW, its a '94 9000CSE Turbo.

So, the second smoking issue is really starting to scare me. About a week ago I turned my car off for about 5 minutes, and upon restarting it, it smoked a fair amount of white smoke. This lasted about 90 seconds and went away. Now the white smoke is getting worse, if the car idles for more than say 10 minutes, it starts to smoke. Today on the way to work I was witness to a nasty truck/motorcycle accident and left my car running as I ran over to aid the motorcyclists and call 911. I forgot about my car running (was in shock from seeing two bike riders get thrown 100 yards into a ditch) and when I finally walked back up to my idling car 20 or 30 minutes later, the car was really smoking a lot.

My first suspicion is a head gasket, am I right?
Its also worth mentioning that the car NEVER smokes while driving, even at WOT.
Would it be a good idea to turn down the boost to ease the pressure on my gaskets? I run a manual boost controller only to about 14-15psi to get around replacing bad BPC valves every few months.
How expensive of a job is a head gasket? if thats what you think it is...

Thanks in advance guys!
-Chris
