just beware of sludge issue in earlier 9-5s...
make sure it had regular oil changes...
note that you can't go through big puddles as safely (air intake was moved lower)...
also note aero will need premium fuel or risk serious engine damage
i've thought of doing same, probably 9-5 aero wagon with ventilated seats, ideally saab certified if i could get low miles and a good deal...
i figured the other day, i've spent about 18K since '98 on cars and i'm left with my 93 9000 CSE, which runs fine, but has annoying mystery noise that replacing tranny with brand new one didn't fix (noise comes from tranny)...
that included 88 bmw 325ic bought and sold ($1000 profit), 95 subaru legacy wagon bought and sold ($6K loss), 90 saab 9000 ($2K cost), 92 saab 9000 ($4K cost), and 93 saab 9000 ($7K cost), including repairs (not insurance/oil changes)...
now, most of the time i'd had at least two daily drivers until recently, but 18K could buy me a nice 9-5 Aero wagon with low miles and ideally within the next 7 or 8 years I'd have relatively minor issues assuming 10K miles per year...
only major issue, however, something to consider...
cost of insurance, taxes, and yearly tax/registration fees
for you,
i'd replace fuel pump before selling car so you get the value out of it, replacing alt isn't too bad. you can always go used, classifieds or ebay
