The very first thing I would do is pop out the equipment, take off the connectors, and spray the heck out of them with some contact cleaner. Let it dry a full 15 minutes, then put everything back together. I've 'fixed' many bizzare radio problems for the cost of a can of contact spray from Radio Shack. And had plenty left over.
If that doesn't work, then I'd look at replacements.
Note with the contact cleaner - it comes out at high pressure, and can splash around. Contact with skin is cold, contact with eyes is bad. I stick the tip of the tube they supply into the connector, and then cover it with a paper towel. The spray can also leave marks on the dash and upholstery.
