That's kind of an iffy mileage to buy at... Posted by turrbo [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: might be purchasing my first 9000 and need advice..., Fish, Wed, 31 May 2006 09:26:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It's just at the point where annoying stuff is going to start to go, but hasn't gone yet so the PO didn't fix it.
98k is ripe for the heater core, blower motor, motor mounts, DI, BPC, etc. to start going. I'm not saying they're definitely going to (I have 150k on my mounts and blower motor), but eventually they will.
The tranny is pretty reliable, more so than the C900, and the engine has the usual bulletproof reliablity. Turbos can go for a long time in these cars, but the headgasket usually starts to leak around 100k. Re-torquing may or may not stop the leak (did in my case).
Interior stuff like windows, seats, ACC, accessories shouldn't be a problem, just make sure everything is functioning. Hopefully the car has some records so you can see if the oil has been changed regularly and with proper oil (semi-syn or full syn only).
I can't really think of anything else, but I'm sure I'm missing something. These cars are pretty easy to DIY, so I'm sure there's a lot you can do. The car should feel great when you're driving it, very powerful and tight. I like the way the 9k handles better than the C900 (used to have a '90 900S). Good luck!
