More audio system musings... Posted by turrbo [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Last week I posted that when I installed new MB Quart 6x9 speakers in the rear of my 9k CS, they caused an awful lot of rattles.
Instead of ordering speaker baffles as Burt suggested (didn't want to wait), I grabed some Dynamat at Best Buy today. I installed it on the plates that the speakers mount on with no problems. I reinstalled the speakers and the rattles are gone! The Dynamat definitely tightened up the sound and eliminated distortion.
On the other hand, the stuff definitely killed some of my bass. I guess the reverberations of the base down through the plate and into the trunk area added to the sound a little bit, and the Dynamat got rid of that. So, the next step is to add an Infinity Basslink. I'll post again on the subject when that gets done.
But I'd recommend to anyone adding some Dynamat back there to tighten up the sound, and I'll be adding some to the trunk when the Basslink goes in.
