Hi guys,
I normally keep to the general and the C900 boards, but I have a question for you. A person I know has a 9000 that he wants to get rid of. It is either an 88 or 89 and I haven't looked at it closely yet. I do know that the body is in good shape (he drives it to work and I have checked it out).
The problem is that it died on him the other day and will not start. He believes that the timing chain broke. I don't know what it is for sure as I haven't looked at it myself. My question is how big a job is it to change a timing chain and will a broken chain bend the valves? I know in many other cars when a timing belt breaks the valves need replaced and in a lot of cases a full bore head job (an old mechanics term, not anything nasty) is in order.
Any thoughts? Thanks a lot. I can get this car for about 75 bucks! I know it has been maintained well, the guy that owns it is a stickler about routine maintenance.
