If a car is driven gently until up to operating temp than a Head gasket will last a "long time".I just bought a '93 Aero with 250k miles and complete records. No mention of head gasket replacement. The car was garage kept with the heating boiler in front of it's garage spot.I asked the PO if he drove it gently until it warmed up and he replied "yes".Could this car still have the original HG.I think not and I would love to hear some feedback from others about the possibilities. With an aluminum head and a steel block there is a lot of grinding of the gasket going on and sooner or later it's inevitible to replace it.But getting on it before it completely warms up hastens the process. So you either pick a point and do it,say every 100k,or wait for coolant loss and white smoke and then do it.Thoughts?
